Junkyard Stories is an interactive installation where visitors explore a series of audio and video compiled from anonymous personal detritus. A constructed room reacts in real-time to movement, allowing visitors to play the media with their bodies.
Using Max/MSP processing the installation discreetly weaves a unique film for each user, but lets them control their exploration. The interactivity of the installation replicates the real-life experience of discovering lost mementos. Like turing a page in a book, Junkyard Stories creates an anonymous narrative out of a collection of old photographs, scrapbooks, letters, graduation yearbooks and home footage. Junkyard Stories immerses the user in a life-sized "trunk" of memories.
